Methodology and data sources
Every number on this site traces to a source; every formula is printed here. Last full data verification: 2026-10-07.
Data sources
All game values come from the community-maintained Harvest Town Wiki, cross-checked between summary tables and each item’s detail page (where the two disagreed, the detail page won and the conflict is noted in the data): Crops; Livestock; Fish; NPC Gifts Table; Birthdays; Grocery (seed prices); verified 2026-10-07.
Known gaps (shown as “?” in the tools, never invented): seed prices for Wheat, Tomato, Sunflower and Napa Cabbage; sell prices for Duck/Goose/Peacock feathers and Alpaca Hair; several Good/Great price tiers; unlock levels marked “TBA”; per-star fish prices.
Crop profit formula
For each crop, one field plot is simulated across your time window:
- Plant (costs one seed). Wait growthDays. Harvest once.
- Multi-harvest crops then regrow every regrowDays (from the crop’s wiki page, e.g. “harvested again every 2 days for up to 5 times”) until the harvest cap.
- When the crop is exhausted (or immediately for single-harvest crops), replant if growthDays still fit in the window.
Profit = harvests Ă— sell price (chosen quality tier) - plantings Ă— seed price. Gold/day = profit Ă· days in your window. Totals scale linearly with plot count. If a quality tier is missing on the wiki, the base price is used and flagged.
Animal profit formula
Revenue/day = Σ(products per day × sell price). Products are assumed at one unit per day per the wiki’s item pages (e.g. “produce a chicken egg once a day”). Profit/day = revenue - feed cost (your input; grazing can be free). Payback = buy price ÷ profit/day. Net over window = profit/day × days - buy price. All prices default to basic quality - a floor, since fondness and Breed skill raise quality.
Fishing values
Prices, locations, seasons, times, weather, bait, levels and exp are the wiki’s published base values. Coins per XP = price ÷ exp. Catch rates per cast are not published anywhere, so expected value per bait cannot be computed honestly - we don’t.
Gift data
Favorites, likes, dislikes and quest items mirror the wiki’s NPC Gifts Table (fondness +87~92 / +43~47 / -10; birthdays ×2). Birthdays come from the wiki’s calendar. Gaps are shown as gaps.
Editorial process
- Authorship: pages are drafted by the team, including AI assistance for structure and copyediting, then reviewed and corrected by a second player who plays Harvest Town; a human owns every published page.
- Verification: data is re-checked against the wiki at least monthly and after known game updates. Every change is recorded in the changelog - dates change only with substantive updates.
- Corrections: reported errors are fixed within about a week and noted in the changelog. Report via contact.
Measurement
We count anonymous usage events (tool started, tool completed, top result) with a first-party script to learn which tools help; no personal data, no third-party trackers by default, nothing you type is transmitted. Details: privacy policy.
Limitations, honestly
- The wiki itself can lag behind game updates; we inherit its errors until they’re fixed upstream or reported to us.
- Scale Powder, fertilizers, workshop recipes, Logistics Hub orders and event crops are not modelled.
- The wiki’s own crop ranking (“order” column) uses unpublished harvest assumptions, so our computed gold/day can differ slightly from it.
